BIOGRAPHY

Bartosz Thiede is a Polish Irish lyric tenor based in Oxford, working across opera, oratorio and musical theatre. He recently made his role debut as Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte with Barefoot Opera, appearing at Battle Festival and the Grimeborn Festival at the Arcola Theatre as part of the company’s touring production. Recent stage engagements also include Conor in the world premiere of A Goth Opera and Septimius in Handel’s Theodora at the Holywell Music Room, conducted by Christopher Bucknall. Bartosz studied Music at Exeter College, University of Oxford, where he held the Parry Wood Organ Scholarship and received the Quarrell Read Prize. He studied singing with Nigel McClintock and Giles Underwood. Alongside his work within Oxford’s collegiate choral tradition, he performed with Oxford University Opera Society in La bohème, Il barbiere di Siviglia and Madama Butterfly. He is currently undertaking postgraduate research in historical musicology at Trinity College Dublin. On the concert platform, Bartosz is regularly engaged as the Evangelist and tenor soloist in Bach’s Passions, Handel’s Messiah and other major works of the oratorio repertoire. He has performed across the UK and internationally, and his voice can be heard on recordings by several Oxford college choirs. His repertoire centres on Mozart, Handel and lyric tenor roles, supported by extensive experience in ensemble singing, choral music and theatrical performance.
